The Crown Placement Procedure

Dental crowns are a tooth-snapped "cap" that fit snuggly over the tooth, completely covering it. Crowns mimic the shape, color, strength and appearance of a tooth. Click on a thumbnail below to view the crown placing procedure.

Same Day Crown

Same Day Dental Crown in Scottsdale, AZ

In most cases, it can take several weeks to manufacture a custom dental crown in Scottsdale, AZ. However, advanced technology allows Dr. Alison P. Schwartz to restore a broken tooth in a single visit. Patients can literally walk in and out of the office with a brand new custom designed dental crown the very same day impressions are made!

How is it possible?

Thanks to an advanced technology known as CEREC, we can create high quality custom made dental crowns in a matter of minutes. What is CEREC? It stands for:

  • Chairside
  • Economical
  • Restorations of
  • Esthetic
  • Ceramics

This means that Dr. Schwartz can create your crown from a high quality ceramic material while you sit in the chair and relax. Whether you have a broken tooth, fractured tooth, or severe structural damage, CEREC can restore it back to its natural strength and appearance.

How does it work?

The process starts similar to how a crown is traditionally prepared. First, the area is numbed so that the broken tooth can be prepared and shaped to receive the crown. However, instead making a mold of the tooth, Dr. Schwartz will use a camera to take a digital image of the tooth which is then sent to the CEREC machine. The machine converts the image into a three dimensional digital model on the computer screen.

Dr. Schwartz then uses this model to configure the details of the crown such as size, shape, and color and sends this data to the milling machine. The milling machine then takes a block of porcelain and carves it into the shape of a dental crown. This process only takes about 20 minutes. When the crown is finished, it is placed on top of the broken tooth and cemented in placed.

CEREC restorations offer highly aesthetic, functional, same day treatment for damaged teeth. To learn more about getting a same day dental crown in Scottsdale, AZ, contact Dr. Schwartz and schedule your consultation today!
